Women’s Golf takes first at Hannibal LaGrange

Doane Women’s Golf competed at the Hannibal LaGrange University Fall Invite on Sep. 28 and 29. This was the first time the Tigers have attended this invite, competing as a team of four girls and two individuals. They were one of two teams competing, although players from other colleges competed individually.

Doane finished in first place with all of their players placing within the top ten.

Senior Avery VanHorn took first place with a 153 (76-77), senior Payton Morgan finished second with a 158 (78-80) and junior Connie Jamr finished third with a 158 (85-73).

Junior Laila Saunders placed sixth with a 160 (79-81), followed by sophomore Isabelle Johnson in seventh with a 161 (80-81). Junior Jamisyn Kirkpatrick placed eighth with a 167 (84-83).

Johnson shot the tournament’s only eagle on hole 18 on day one.

The Tigers will travel to Cairo, Nebraska, on Oct. 5 and 6 to compete in the Nebraska Intercollegiate tournament, where last year they finished second overall.
