Be prepared for long car rides

Let me tell you, after six straight hours of being in the car by yourself, you tend to do one of these three things.

(1) You either jam out to music, and this is where you find out your music taste is actually trash. (2) You listen to podcasts hoping that the time will pass by a lot faster. Or (3) you start having what are commonly known as “shower thoughts.”

Starting off with number one, you might be thinking, “Well if you don’t like the music that is on your playlist so you might want to change that.” You know what, that is the smartest thing to do; however I never get to that part. Also during my six-hour long car drive, I realized how wildly different my playlist actually is. Some songs make me think I need to go to therapy, and some songs make me think I am doing just fine.

This leads me to number two which is the podcasts. On my ride back to Crete I listened to seven different podcasts. I obviously didn’t finish them of course because if I did I would probably be asleep on the side of the road because of how boring they are. And the worst part about it was that three of them were made by funny people and were recommended to me, three of them were true crime podcasts, and the last one was I don’t even know. So clearly, podcasts aren’t my thing.

And finally, the “shower thoughts”. Some of the things that were popping into my head are as follows. Is water wet? Why is the sky blue? Everyone on this interstate is probably doing the same thing I am. My first birthday is technically your second birthday, meaning my twentieth birthday will be my twenty-first birthday. I think you get where I am coming from.

So whenever you have to go on a three or more hour long car ride make sure you have either a really good playlist, some good podcasts or you’re going to end up like me wondering which orange was made first, the fruit or the color.
