To wrap up the month of April and the Student Programming Board’s (SPB) Foodie Series, members of SPB put together an Ice Cream Night on April 30.

It was held in Lakeside from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. where Fresh Ideas Chef Shack Butters worked with students teaching them how to make ice cream in a bag.

There, students were provided with bags filled with ice cream ingredients. After shaking the bag, students had their very own hand-made ice cream. Students had the opportunity to select from vanilla, chocolate or strawberry-flavored ice cream.

The first 30 students who attended the event were given a color-changing spoon.

Freshman Mallory Riffel attended the event and said that the ice cream was delicious and it was a great chance to hang out with friends and enjoy good food.

“I thought it was so fun to do as a make your own ice cream event because it let students get involved, and we got to spend time talking to the staff and other students while enjoying our ice cream,” Riffel said. “It was nice just to get a break from the long day and sit and make ice cream.”

Despite the fact that it was handmade, many students enjoyed the ice cream, commenting that it tastes like normal ice cream.

To conclude the semester, SPB is assisting with Destress Fest where students can similarly enjoy snacks as well as relaxing activities and giveaways.
